Queen of Disco Donna Summer Died at 63
Five-time Grammy Award winner, LaDonna Adrian Gaines (Donna Summer), American singer-songwriter (rose to fame in the ’70s with hits like “Hot Stuff,” “Bad Girls” and “Love to Love You Baby”) died Thursday morning due to lung cancer. Donna Summer was the first artist to have three consecutive double albums reach number one on the U.S. Billboard chart.
She was non-smoker, and the cancer was unrelated to smoking. Summer is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano, their daughters Brooklyn and Amanda, as well as her daughter Mimi from a previous marriage.
The singer’s family released a statement saying that they are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”
